Update - McCain USA Inc. issues voluntary recall on fire roasted, caramalized or sauteed frozen vegatable and fruit products

23 October 2018

We understand that questions continue to be asked about the recall by McCain Foods for fire roasted, caramelized or sautéed frozen vegetable and fruit products produced at our Colton facility, California; and the subsequent recalls this has caused other food companies to undertake.

After becoming aware of this issue we identified the potential risks and informed our customers and relevant regulatory authorities. To be clear, we have received no reports of illnesses associated with the consumption of these products to date and this voluntary recall was issued as a precautionary measure for the safety of consumers. However, we realize that people may be concerned by the number of recalls being issued, which is a result of the McCain products being used by our customers.  McCain has not expanded its recall scope since notifying its customers (distributors, retailers, food service or manufacturers), who purchased the potentially impacted product and may have used it in their own products, resulting in the possibility of those companies issuing their own recalls.

We will continue to work in cooperation with our customers and the appropriate regulatory authorities, so they can take any actions deemed necessary.  Consumers should follow FDA, USDA or Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) websites for any relevant updates on this recall.

We take our commitment to food safety, our customers and consumers very seriously, and will continue to work hard to maintain the highest quality standards in our manufacturing processes.
